A quartet of persons lost their lives in Nairobi when law enforcement opened fire and deployed teargas to scatter enormous assemblies at a sports arena where political figure Raila Odinga's body was displayed for homage.

Numerous devotees assembled on thoroughfares from dawn, with mayhem breaking out when a large crowd breached a gate at Nairobi's main stadium, causing military personnel to shoot skyward.

Aviation Hub Disruption and Parliament Standoff

During the morning, countless of grievers briefly stormed Nairobi's international airport, disrupting a ceremony where President William Ruto and other officials were welcoming Odinga's corpse with armed forces tribute.

This incident prompted a temporary halt of airport operations.

Groups also overwhelmed surrounding thoroughfares and sought to penetrate parliament, where the government had first arranged the open visitation.

National Legacy and Community Support

Although primarily recognized as an opposition figure, Odinga served as prime minister in 2008 and also formed a political pact with Ruto last year in a career marked by changing partnerships.

He commanded passionate devotion among supporters, notably in his cultural background based in western Kenya, many of whom contend he was deprived of the nation's leadership by election irregularities.

Many of Odinga's supporters, who were not yet born in 1991 when Kenya transitioned to a multi-party democracy, paid tribute to Odinga's contributions as an activist.
