The Fifth Toy Story Film Teaser Pits Woody and Buzz Against a Digital Device
It has been 30 anniversary since the first Toy Story film was released, launching the animation giant as a major animation studio and introducing audiences to beloved figures like the cowboy doll (the actor) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.
In 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed recently, offering a brief look into the storyline but keeping fans wondering how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Digital Device Spooks the Toys
The preview shows the young girl — who inherited the toy collection when he left for college — getting a brand new plaything, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.
Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. However, the characters appear to consider it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it probably is.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
An element the teaser avoids is what the sheriff is returned with his companions in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a new adventure with the shepherdess (the actress), traveling with a fair and helping prize toys find good homes.
Certainly, Pixar will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him show up in the familiar setting without warning is a little strange, though. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have returned with him. And where is the stuntman toy (the star)?
Connections from the Previous Film
Fortunately, some aspects are continuing from the prior film. The last thing the cowboy did before setting off for his new life was pass his sheriff badge to Jessie (the voice actor), entrusting her as the leader of the toy domain. The clip shows the insignia pinned to her shirt.
It is hoped she is still the driving force among the group.
